Debunking Soy and Other Vegan Diet Myths — Interview with James Wilks – Podcast Episode 82

Did you know 8 out of 10 plant-based people are female, and 5 out of 6 people who go meat-free end up going back?

What about the fact that the estrogen found in animals is identical to human estrogen, whereas plant estrogen is entirely different from the human form? Or that over the past 20 yrs in over 50 clinical trials on the use of soy in the alleviation of hot flashes, a meta-analysis shows a significant, measurable reduction in menopausal symptoms?

This is only the tip of the iceberg of what science shows us about a plant-based diet, and it’s the exact opposite of what most people are hearing.

In today’s podcast episode — the one we’ve ALL been waiting for — I had the pleasure of talking about science and the behavioral psychology surrounding a plant-based diet with James Wilks.

James is the producer and narrator of The Game Changers, the most-viewed documentary of all time, showcasing the dramatic rise of plant-based eating in professional sports!

(He is best known for winning Season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter and serves as a combatives trainer for government agencies, including the US Marshals, US Marines, and US Navy SEALs. Holy hell, right?)

He spent over 7 years researching everything there was to know about a plant-based diet, and let me tell you, it shows! He is brilliant and shared some shocking information that I know you will LOVE.

(My husband went fully plant-based after watching this documentary. It is mind-blowing!)

Find out what happened to him that ended up being a catalyst towards his research for this movie. You are going to love not only his story but also the way he presents the literature.

I know you will thoroughly enjoy this episode!!

Love Kim xo

    G’Day Kim,
My name is Joanne and im from Australia. I follow a health guru called Don Tolman, he blew my mind when it cameto plant based eating and info. Im asking, it would be great if you can ask him to be on a podcast session with you?? 🤗
Im a bit like you and ‘Geek Out’ on people such as yourself, James and Don. I liked his info regarding soy, im vegan with a previous bad thyroid and have had questions such as these, so thanks for interviewing him.
Whilst i have this opportunity, id like to ask about the intake of food. I think im doing something wrong, im not sure how to measure eg 110 g of fat or protien?
Im coming into the 4th week of buns n guns and feel a bit deflated. Ive joined a gym and go 6 x a week, seriously, that is so out of my usual nomalities, i dont like going to gyms usually, but because i can walk in and know what i need to do (watching your videos) really helps and motivates me.
Im going to watch the game changer on netflix and make a vegan vanilla/ choco slice. Not for me, my work mate are due for some of my cooking. 😁😁.
    Cheers
    Jo

Hey Jo, nice to virtually meet you! Can you send the information to support@thesculptedvegan.com for the person you would like me to have on my podcast so we cam look into it? For measuring your food, definitely post questions in the group so that coaches can help guide you in your journey! Thank you for being a part of my community 🙌

    • The Sculpted Vegan says:

Hi, I’m sorry I’m not sure what that is and I’m not a doctor. 🙌 Wish you well on figuring things out 💕

  2. Aida says:

Definitely agree with focusing on the health aspect of going plant based and vegan, and not pushing your agenda on others, but it is just as important to raise awareness of the impact on animals and the environment from the meat industry to allow people to make an informed decision.

    • The Sculpted Vegan says:

Absolutely! 🙌 There is definitely an educational and kind way to do that, many people miss that memo ❤️

This was just the podcast I needed to hear. I’m not vegan but have been thinking about it since I began following you and doing your programs. I was confused about the soy from hearing so many mixed messages. I also had no idea about the menopause benefits. I listened to that part a few times because it mentioned symptoms I’ve been having. After listening to this, I immediately had to watch The Game Changers movie. Now I’m inspired to start making changes. I like that you discussed starting small because that is what I plan to do. Thank you for always giving us such useful and helpful information!

    • The Sculpted Vegan says:

So glad I could help! It was definitely an important podcast to do! 🙌

  5. Patricia Penteado says:

Brilliant Podcast Kim, great to know you are always listening to your members! I had my menopause quite early (at 44) so I was seen by a specialist and she actually recommended me to eat things with Soy because Hormone Replacement given is actually made of soy, so as I am vegan she said at least I will be getting it the natural way. She also recommend to do high impact exercise or weights for bone health, so being with TSV is perfect!! Love all your podcasts, there are many that I listened two or 3 times!! All the best XXX

Yes! I always have my finger on the heart of my communities 💕 So glad you enjoyed!

  6. Annamaria Berek says:

Wow this was so amazing! Haha, no you were not going silly at all! I loved the movie, we watched it as a family (already vegan) and it’s fantastic to get to know the creator and the background. My friend who helped me along my journey to transition to raw vegan 7 years ago from omni – big jump! – (not raw vegan any more but I totally loved it!) did a very excessive research on soy coming to the same conclusion that it is not bad for you at all. I just believed her as she is a highly intelligent woman and a lawyer, so trusted her ability on this. I experienced a lot of positive change with my energy level and general health, backed by blood tests on day1, 3 month in, 6 months than annual. I started from a medium level of everything that was ok, not amazing. Just after 3 months my results started changing for the better, good cholesterol up, bad down, excellent iron, B12, Protein levels and the list goes on! I never looked back and never had regrets, never missed anything that was on my non vegan diet before. So rock on, keep spreading the word and lead by example! Lots of love and warm hugs!
