Anybody who runs the Marathon des Sables – which is 6-day race, run through the Sahara Desert in blistering heat – knows something about ultra-fitness, and is definitely worth a listen. This week, I talk to Brian Keane about his journey from primary school teacher to ultra-athlete and coach, and specifically about the fears he conquered to get there.

Thank you for this podcast it was really useful and it was just a reminder of the hard time I have had all my life and finally only now I am strong enough to change my life and I just wish the young generation could implement these experiences and guidance at the young age.
I have recently heard about you and started your jailhouse challenge and I’m really enjoying you.
Thank you.
Wow that hit the nail on the head. During this pandemic I am having trouble with no structure . having a goal is key. A goal in every thing in life is true and my current focus thank you both and I am looking forward to a part 2
Incredible podcast! As an endurance athlete myself…having run 7 marathons, triathlons, half-Ironmans and an Ironman..I can totally relate to what Brian said about the differences between endurance and body building! Similarities but also mental differences. Loved the discussion of choosing problems vs finding solutions. This podcast was enlightening, easy to relate to, and just all.around solid! Thanks for this honest n heartfelt podcast. My favorite one to date! ?
Wow!!! This met me exactly where I’m at right now! I’m entering a new decade May 14th just four days after the Jailhouse Shred ends! (I’ll be 60 years old!) I want to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be as I enter my 60’s so I can be a better wife, mom, friend, daughter and overall a better person. I have spent most of my life wondering “What I want to be when I grow up?!” I have always been comfortable in front of others and am a risk taker. I am an idea person and love experiential learning! My issue has always been fear of disappointment. I don’t like to let people down. So, when I get an idea I’m so excited and motivated, but then I get stuck actually putting it into motion. As a result I’ve jumped from job to job throughout my life getting a “great start” on many of my ideas but then struggle with the follow thru. After listening to you and Brian I’m once again reminded that I need a goal. I need to find my “why”. As Simon Senac said in his Ted Talk “The Golden Circle” …”People don’t by WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.” Your podcast today once again reminded me that if I am to be successful in my life I need to define my “goal” my “why” and then take the risk and go for it! Failures are just learning curves…there’s always another accomplishment around the corner to achieve. Thank you Kim for all you are doing to help make this life long journey an adventure! I’m enjoying the ride!
